Required tools:

  • A tarp
  • An oil pan
  • A garden water hosepipe with sprayer
  • A socket wrench
  • A wire cleaning brush
  • Lubricant oil
  • Rubber made hand gloves
  • Goggles

Now it’s time to clean the underneath of the mower deck. Follow the steps set out below to perform the entire task conveniently.

Steps to follow:

Step #1: Preparation Before Cleaning

Place the mower into an even or flat surface and unplug the spark plug from the mower. 

Step #2: Vacant Mower Fuel Tank

Now, spread the tarp on the floor and place the mower over the tarp. Place the oil pan under the drain valve of the mower fuel tank. Remove the valve and vacant the whole tank. 

Step #3: Remove The Mower Blade

Tilt the mower into its sideways and take the socket wrench to unscrew the bolts that attach the blade of the mower with the deck. Carefully remove the mower blade and keep it into a safe place. 

Step #4: Use Wire Brush To Remove Grass Clippings And Dirt’s

Remove the grass clippings and dirt from the underside of the mower by scrubbing it with a wire cleaning brush. 

Step #5: Spray Adequate Amount of Water

When all the dirt and debris will be cleaned, take the garden water hosepipe and strongly spray water to clean it properly. 

Spray an adequate amount of water until the underside is free of dirt. Wait a while for the mower to dry fully.  

Step #6: Apply Lubricant Oil and Replace The Blade

When the underside is completely dried, apply some lubricant oil in it. Now, place the blade in its previous position and tighten the bolts with the socket wrench. Refill the fuel tank with oil and reconnect the mower spark plug.  

Now, your mower is absolutely ready for mowing again.

To clean the underside of your riding mower, you don’t need to remove the blade of your mower. You just need a hydraulic jack to raise the mower deck above along with the other tools used for a push mower. Sounds great! Right?

Steps to follow: 

Step #1: Prepare The Riding Mower For Cleaning

Place the mower into an even surface and remove the key from the ignition switch. Unplug the spark plug from the mower also.

Step #2: Lift The Lawn Mower Upward

Place the hydraulic jack under one side of the mower deck. Press the jack handle as long as you get a suitable height to clean the bottom of the mower deck. 

Step #3: Clean The Lawn Mower Underside

Now, take the wire cleaning brush and rub off the dirt and debris from the underside. After that, strongly spray water underside of the lawnmower by using the garden water hosepipe. 

Wait a while for the mower to dry fully. After drying the mower completely, spray some lubricant oil underside of the mower deck. 

That’s all. Now your riding mower is absolutely perfect for mowing your lawn. 

Cautions 

  • Wear hand gloves when removing the push mower blade. Don’t touch the sharp side of the blade. 
  • Check the hydraulic jack carefully after raising the mower above to avoid any kind of unwanted injury.
